Located between Narbonne and Carcassonne, just a few steps away from the Canal du Midi and nestling in the Minervois vineyards, the Chateau de Jouarres apartments are ideally located for exploring the delights of the Languedoc.  Family friendly and attractively priced, they offer modern 3 star accommodation and a large, shared swimming pool. PROPERTY DESCRIPTION

Situated alongside the famous Canal du Midi, close to the village of Homps and the Lac (Lake) du Joaurres and halfway between Carcassonne and Narbonne, you will find these modern apartments in the 12 acre grounds of the Chateau du Jouarres.

The chateau is just 30 kms away from the fine sandy beaches of the Mediterranean coast and so it's an easy drive if you love the beach.

The light and airy apartments are located in 3 modern purpose-built buildings. All the apartments have a terrace or balcony equipped with garden furniture.

For relaxing by or cooling off in after a day's sightseeing, there's a very large shared outdoor swimming pool open in the summer from May to September, according to the weather.

This Type 1C apartment has 1 bedroom, a double sofa bed in the living room and a night area with bunkbeds for children, one bathroom with bath tub and suitable for 2-4 people.

As well as the large outdoor swimming pool, there's a play area for children, a shared area for cooking a barbecue, and special events for both children and adults during July and August. 

Chateau du Jouarres is very close  to the village of Homps where it is possible to take a boat trip on the Canal du Midi as well as visit the local bars and restaurants. 

Just 3 kms away is the small town of Olonzac which has a range of facilities including a supermarket, banks, pharmacies and a fantastic local market on a Tuesday morning.

The apartments here are rated 3 stars by the French tourist board and are family friendly.

Le Chateau de Jouarres is located between the villages of Homps and Azille and is close to both La Redorte and Olonzac. Homps is a village and port on the Canal du Midi and offers bars, restaurants, a wine cave, antiques and boat trips on the Canal. Here you will also find a supermarket and petrol station. 

The small popular town of Olonzac is the hub of the Minervois wine-producing region. It is well-serviced with shops, a Casino supermarket, mini-markets, bars and restaurants and has a weekly market on a Tuesday morning.

Sports Facilities: As well as the swimming pool on site, you can walk locally to the Lac du Jouarres, where there's swimming, or along the Canal du Midi.   You can also hire bikes or take part in water sports at the Mediterranean coast. Golfers can enjoy the courses in Carcassonne or Beziers.

Sightseeing: The Homps/Olonzac area is a fab base from which to explore the Languedoc Region with Carcassonne, Narbonne, Beziers, Minerve, Lagrasse and the Canal du Midi all within an easy drive.

Wine: Wine-lovers will find this an excellent base from which to find the local wine chateaux and domaines - all of whom of offer tastings and direct wine sales.

Markets: The markets of the region are colourful and interesting with lots of fresh, local, seasonal produce, basketware, herbs and spices, cookware, jewellery, shoes and had bags.  The Tuesday morning market is Olonzac is fantastic and a real social occasion - best to go early to avoid the busy period.  If you can't make Tuesday morning, there's a great Wednesday market just a short drive away in Lezignan Corbieres.

Restaurants: Homps, Olonzac, La Redorte and Azille  have a number of reasonably priced restaurants.  Please ask us for more details when booking.

Supermarket: There's a small Utile supermarket in Homps, Olonzac has a good size Casino supermarket on the edge of town and La Redorte has an Intermarche supermarket. 

Open plan living/dining room: The Type 1 C apartment offers approx 45 sq.m.of modern open plan living with  lots of natural light and glass doors leading onto your balcony or terrace.  

Furnishings are simple and modern and include sofas and/or armchairs and a dining table and chairs. Each apartment has a flat screen TV receiving international channels. 

Kitchen: The open plan kitchen is equipped with a ceramic electric hob, a microwave oven, a fridge/freezer, a dishwasher, a coffee maker and a kettle.

Bedrooms: There is one double bedroom with a double bed and a sofa bed which sleeps 2 in the living room. There's also a night area with bunk beds for children. A cot for a baby is available upon request when booking. 

Bed sizes: All double beds at 140cms wide and single beds are 90cms wide.

Bathroom: There is one bathroom with a bath tub and wash basin. The WC is separate.

Additional accommodation: There are alternative apartments here sleeping from 2 - 6 people - please enquire.

Laundry Facilities: There is a communal washing machine/dryer area where you can wash clothes etc - guide price 4 euros per wash and 3 euros per drying load.

Outside: Every apartment has a terrace or balcony equipped with garden furniture for dining alfresco and relaxing.

Swimming pool: There's a large open air swimming pool available for your use and shared with other guests. Here you will find further sun loungers and parasols. The pool is open in the summer season from mid April to October according to the weather and normally from 9.00am to 9,00pm.

Parking: On-site secure parking space is available.

Internet: A WiFi internet connection is normally available in the Main Reception area.

Telephone: Sorry there is no landline telephone here, but mobile reception in the area is usually good.

Baby Facilities: A cot and a high chair are available upon on request when making a booking.

Electric and Water: Are included in the rental price.

End of stay cleaning: For  this size of apartment, the price of the end of stay cleaning is 85 euros and is mandatory.  It can be paid direct at the Reception on arrival OR you can pay Joie de Vivre the equivalent £ sterling price when placing your booking. Please let us know which you prefer. NB: The end of stay cleaning service does not cover the kitchen or dirty dishes - you must clean these yourselves prior to departure.  A cleaning kit containing useful items for cleaning is available from the Reception for 10 euros.

Bed and bathroom linen: Bed linen is included in the rental price and provided for you. However, the beds are not made up on arrival. If you wish to hire bathroom towels, this is possible for 6 euros per kit of 2 towels - 1 hand towel and one bath towel. Please request and pay for at Reception on arrival. You can also pay Joie de Vivre at the equivalent £ sterling price when placing your booking. Please take your own pool/beach towels. We recommend that you take a couple of tea towels with you.

Other services: Breakfast is available by prior reservation at a cost of 9 euros per adult and 7 euros per child.  A Bar is open for drinks from 8th July - 2th August 2017, normally from 8.00am to 1.00pm and from 4.00pm to 9.00pm.

Taxe de Sejour: The French taxe de sejour is not included in the rental price and is payable direct at the property, the guide rate of 1 euro per person per nightover 18 years.

Damage deposit:  Chateau du Jouarres request a damage deposit of 250 euros payable by card at the Reception upon arrival. This will be refunded to your card as soon as possible after your departure less the replacement cost of any breakages or damage during your stay.

Change Over Day: Between 15th July and 26th August 2017, the change over day is either Saturday or Sunday and must be for a 7 or 14 night stay.  Please enquire for the price per night.

Arrival/Departure Times:  Arrival time 5.00pm or 17h00.  Departure time: by 10.00am or 10h00.

Reception Opening Hours: Please arrive within the reception opening hours which are normally 8.30am - 11.00am and 4.30pm to 7.00pm every day.  In the peak of the summer season, opening hours are 8am - 11.30am and 4.00pm - 7.30pm Sunday to Friday and from 8am - 8pm on Saturdays.

Pets: It may be possible to bring a small dog here by prior request and agreement but not in July and August or the Easter holidays. The tariff for bringing a dog is 30 euros payable in advance. Dogs are not permitted in the swimming pool area.

Smoking: Is not allowed in the apartments or in the interior public areas.
